Replacement

New garage door
installation

Measured, fitted, and the old door and hardware taken away. But first the unhelpful sales pitch: if the door you have can be repaired, we will tell you that instead.

When a repair is the better answer. A sound door with a broken spring is a spring problem, not a new-door problem. If the skin is straight, the panels are not rotted or rusted through, and the tracks are true, a repair will usually buy you another five to ten years. We will put that in writing alongside the replacement quote, and we would rather you took it. When replacement genuinely is right: rotted or delaminated panels, rust through the bottom section, a door bent from being forced off-track, a wooden door that has taken on water, or a non-insulated door on an attached garage with a room above it.

Doors we fit

Specified for the winter, not the brochure

Insulated steel — the default here Two skins of steel with polyurethane between them, R-9 to R-13. On an attached garage in Dracut this is almost always the right answer: it holds the room above meaningfully warmer in January, and it is substantially quieter because the panel does not drum. Ask us for the R-value in the quote and compare it — this is where cheap doors are cheap. The default in this climate
Non-insulated steel Single-skin. Genuinely fine for a detached garage you do not heat and do not have a room over. We will fit one happily and we will tell you when it is a false economy. The budget option, honestly labelled
Carriage house Overlay panels and hardware that read as swing-out barn doors while working as a normal sectional. The style that suits most of the older housing stock around here. Suits the older housing stock
Full-view aluminium & glass Anodised frame with glazing — obscure, frosted, tinted or clear. Popular for garages that have become workshops or gyms. Specify insulated glazing here or you will feel it in February. Specify insulated glazing

[Confirm which manufacturers Judson is a dealer for — Clopay, C.H.I., Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Raynor — and whether any Authorized Dealer status applies. If so, the badge and the manufacturer's door visualiser tool belong on this page; both are free credibility and the nearest competitor leans hard on them.]

How an installation goes

  1. We measure, at your house

Opening width and height, headroom, side room, backroom, and how the framing has aged. Quotes given without this are guesses.

  2. You get a fixed written quote

Door, track, springs sized to the new door's weight, opener if you are changing it, disposal, tax. One number, and it does not move.

  3. The door is ordered

[Typical lead time — confirm with the client. Set the expectation honestly here; it is one of the most common complaints in this trade.]

  4. Fitting day

Most single doors are a half day, doubles slightly longer. Old door and hardware go with us.

  5. We show you how it works

Manual release, safety reverse test, remotes and keypad programmed, warranty paperwork in your hand before we leave.
